Press Release Body: Beachburg, Ontario, June 20, 2008 -- The Heliconia Press is very excited to announce that shooting has begun for a first-of-its-kind kayak fishing action movie, ExOfficio Presents Kayak Fishing: Game On! For release in Spring 2009, the film follows renowned big-game kayak angler Jim Sammons around North America on the kayak fishing adventure of a lifetime. Jim hooks up with local kayak fishing pros as he seeks out tarpon in Florida, halibut and king salmon in Alaska, tuna and marlin in Baja, stripers in Chesapeake Bay, and muskie in Canada.
Production for the movie got underway this past week as Jim met up with local kayak fishing pro, Greg Bowdish, in Fort Myers, Florida. Following along with Jim and Greg were filmmakers Will Richardson and Lisa Utronki, and renowned outdoor photographer, Jock Bradley.
On the hunt for 150-pound tarpon, extreme kayak anglers, Jim and Greg, headed to Florida\'s legendary, shark-infested Boca Grande Pass. With tidal currents peaking at a whopping 8 knots and enough boat traffic to intimidate the most experienced captain, it is no surprise that Jim and Greg\'s presence marked the first ever kayak fishing attempt at Boca Grande and likely the last one for quite some time.
Weaving between boats and leaping fish, Greg and Jim both managed to hook tarpon weighing in at over 100 pounds. After a ten minute battle with a tarpon that took Jim on a mile-long sleigh ride on his kayak, the massive fish leapt five feet into the air and soon after broke the line. Greg ended his fight quickly and released the monster fish he\'d hooked so that it would be able to fight again one day.
Jim\'s kayak fishing adventure resumes on June 13th, as he travels to Ketchikan in Southeast Alaska in search of huge halibut and delicious king salmon.
